Distraction Techniques 2
Continuation of the “Touch” command and combine with the watch me to use as a distraction technique for dogs that are reacting to strangers or other dogs.
“Stranger Danger” is a common guarding response, especially in young male dogs with young female, nervous or inexperienced handlers, as can be over reaction to other dogs.
This was filmed with a young handler that had never had any previous instruction in the technique, using the young family dog that is normally trained by another family member.
The session was a great success and showed how an inexperienced handler can get the best out of the dog with confidence, simple techniques and a calm , measured approach.
Apologies in advance for the sound quality it was a windy afternoon on a wide open sports field.
